Sockington and Pennycat

WHY HELLO THERE

WHY HELLO THERE

As the story goes, Socks the cat (full name: Sockington) was first spotted next to a T stop outside of Boston, where he was meowing and hoping someone or something would feed him. When the person came back from work later in the day, Socks was still waiting by the entrance, still meowing.  He was scooped up and passed through a couple homes before he was ultimately brought to Waltham, where he now lives a life of luxury, tuna and cat toys while occasionally destroying things precious to everyone else but himself.

Socks likes short runs in the hallway, inventing new cat beds, and going absolutely all-points-bulletin insane at the slightest provocation or based on internal signals that may or may not be coming from Mars.  He also has the attention span of a weathervane. With the advent of the short-attention-span poster site twitter.com, Socks has finally found the home for his skittering, random thoughts. What started out as a simple diary of the life of a cat has expanded to a veritable Army Of Socks (Socks Army to their friends) who now follow Socks by the thousands.

Delighted to Meet You.

Delighted to Meet You.

Penny (Full name: Pennycat or Pennsylvania, she won’t reveal which) was, as far as can be discerned, owned by a family who decided they didn’t want her anymore, and unceremoniously dropped on the front porch of an animal shelter, where she promptly ran away at top speed to a nearby farm in Hudson, NY.  Here, she lived outside for a number of months, at one point facing down a badger in a one-on-one deathmatch that she, with great aplomb, won. As winter approached, she won herself into a number of hearts with her Penny Trick, a standing-on-back-legs pet-me maneuver that resulted in a 200 mile car ride east to Waltham, where she had all she could ever want in food, toys and sleeping… except for the issue of Socks, who she absolutely hates.

They now split their duties, with Penny running this website and Socks continuing to twitter to his fans, each doing what they can to make the world a little more hair-covered.
