Sockington is Missing (Update: FOUND)

Hello, this is a post by Sockington’s owner, Jason, who you might know as “fatty”. This is not a joke. It is very serious.

This morning, we were woken by strange sounds downstairs in the house. After a little while, we came downstairs and could not find Socks. It has now been a couple hours and we can’t find him at all. We’ve torn apart every corner of the house, looked behind every item, shone flashlights in places a cat can’t possibly fit and looked through any place a cat might be hurt, unconscious, or hiding. He is not in the house.

The sounds were possibly like one of our doors being opened, and the shuffling of boxes and papers that were near the door.  At one point I was outside and saw a car pulling out of a neighbor’s driveway, which I have not yet checked to see if it was actually my neighbor’s car.

After a while, after exhausting what feels like every possibility, we’ve come to the conclusion that someone may have stolen Sockington out of the house.

Please, if you’re reading this and are the people who did this, or know who did it, please talk to us about his safe return. We don’t have any desire to get you in trouble, or cause reprisals, or anything. We just want Sockington back; we feel empty not seeing him walk around here, not hearing his meows.

We will continue to search the house. We hope this is a false alarm, that he’s just playing a trick. But he’s never been silent this long, never made some attempt to come out to get his 6am dinner. We’re scared and we’re sad.

Again, if anyone has any information, please write socks@sockington.org, or call (Phone Number Removed).

Please.

UPDATE: SOCKS HAS BEEN FOUND. He was underneath a shelf in my office, wrapped in a curtain, completely spooked and terrified.  For the first time in years, he spent hours completely silent, not even reacting to hands, flashlights and food being waved inches from where he was. We’ve got him resting in a bedroom and letting whatever freaked him out get out of his system.

The outpouring from the world has been tremendous. Thank you all so much for your offers of help, suggestions of things to try, and ideas. I know, looking at it now as some might do, that this might seem to be some sort of stunt or silliness to get attention to Socks, but if you’ve ever had a pet (or child) and lost sight of them in a way that makes no sense or which doesn’t easily resolve itself, your mind races and you will do anything, absolutely anything in your power to get them back. I checked in with his followers out of desperation, and while this has turned out to be a false alarm, I will never forget all you said and all you wrote.

Here is a photo of Socks just taken, showing both that he’s safe and that he’s acting very withdrawn.

Sockington will be twittering again soon. Thanks again, so much.

hey
that’s sad and scary, i know. Really hope he shows up sooner rather than later. Once I had to look for one of my cats for well over 9 hours, while the other just looked on, and until today i have no idea where he went.
Also i hope no one entered your home, but if in doubt, have you sonsidered the police?
Best of luck

#15 DeeBNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 2:27 am

Very sad to hear that.
Would he have run out the door when the door opened?
I’ve given up on a tomcat and then he comes back.
I hope this is the case for Socks,
We’re rooting for him,
D

I’m hoping that Socks has just gotten side-tracked by a tasty morsel and has determined that his audience can get by without him for a while, but I fear the paparazzi has taken him for ransom, and it ISN’T FUNNY!!!!!

#31 Lauren LehneNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 2:31 am

I hope to God Socks is in great shape & just took off for a hunt or something. Was he snipped? (It matters) Please have Sockington return to his rightful home safely & soundly. He’s a sweet, innocent kitty. If someone took him, tell me their address, phone numberm or place of residency & I’ll get your revenge. They will suffer horribly. My sicilian family members will do anything for me..even for special Mr.Socks. Please tell when he’s returned safely; if he’s not by 3 days-then, contact me and I’ll find him FOR you. He’s a special kitty like my black & white cat Pylat.

I hope that Sockington will be back with you very soon and that maybe he just ran away for a bit because of the noise. Zoe, Suki and I are sending you all the good vibes from our heart for this situation to work out for the best. We just started following you yesterday when I started their Twitter page. How strange to this tweet first thing next morning. Best wishes for you and Sockington!

#33 BeatriceNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 2:32 am

Just as an afterthought…. one of my boys, Spider, did this to me once. I couldn´t find him anywhere and I searched *everywhere*. At least I thought I had searched everywhere! Eventually he just walked into the room as if nothing had happened, the little git. I was SO bloody worried! And I still don´t know to this day *where* he hid!

I sure hope that Socks is just playing that same game with you.

So, message to Socks…. you can come out now. It´s not funny anymore…

#58 jenNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 2:48 am

Come back Socks! Let someone know where you are! I’ve gone through this with Sammy my alltime favorite & it’s not fun. If you’re hurt like my Shaq was, make it somewhere safe & howl. We lived in Tahoe & he escaped but got cut tearing through a fence. Good Luck, keep us posted. Love, Jen

#59 lauraNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 2:49 am

OH, my god.

Terrible news :( I have a cat and I know how much you can grow to love them. They’re so special. They always know how to choose the right moment to come and give you a little cuddle when you’ve had a bad day :( and we know how much you love socks, so I really, really hope whoever did this can bring your cat to you safe and sound

#66 GreytdogNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 2:51 am

Was anything else removed from the house? Have you contacted the police?
Finding Socks: 1) posters everywhere 2) contact your local Animal Services & Humane Society as well as other pet rescues in the area, let them know, give them posters w/ Socks picture so they can identify him should he be picked up 3) leave food & water out to coax him back,
It may be that someone did come in and scared him off. . .
4) Contact local vets; give them the poster to put up in their clinics in case someone brings him in
5) does Penny ever go outside on a halter? If so, take her outside and he might respond to her if he’s been spooked by a person

Keeping my fingers crossed, sending lots of white light & prayers your way and hoping Socks just decided to go on a short adventure. Please do keep us informed.

#67 mathcat345 (Jann)No Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 2:52 am

I hope your neighbors will form a search group and scour the area for him. I hate to think that someone would consider stealing him; if someone broke in, would he go to them or would he hide? My thoughts are with you, Socks, and Penny.

#68 MeganNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 2:52 am

BTW check your basement, one of our two indoor cats used to go missing for hours at a time and just this year we discovered a large hole in the wall behind the oil tank where even a large cat could fit…we’ve stuffed two 2-liter soda bottles full of water in the hole so nothing more can get out or in

I’m going to worry and pray for Socks all day!

#70 KellyNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 2:57 am

This happened to me with my cat once, it was like 4 hours and we were making posters and you couldnt hear her whatsoever. Turned out she was napping in a rainjacket pocket, a jacket hanging in the hall entrance closet. So check your jacket pockets, I know it’s weird that a cat would fit in there/choose to nap there but it happened to me. Another time she was in a hole we didnt know existed in the wall.. I hope you find your cat!

Please check every cupboard and closet – particularly ones with doors that could easily close again if pulled open. It may be a long shot, but am fervently hoping he has fallen asleep somewhere odd rather than something sinister; cats do love a nice cosy cupboard to hide away in for a nap, & I had a cat that could open my closet doors. Hope he turns up soon, my thoughts are with you.

#83 Hiroshi MishimaNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 3:08 am

This is similar to what Barbarella said, but I had a cat I loved with all my heart for many years. On occasion, it was not uncommen for him to suddenly vanish from the entire house, even though there was never any opportunity for him to leave, nor any sign of forced entry/exit. Then hours later he’d mysteriously reappear even though I tore up the whole house looking for him.

..cats are strange and mysterious creatures. Whatever the case really is, I hope and pray that Socks is safe and you will be reunited with him soon.

Do call the police immediately if you haven’t done so already. Check with your neighbours if they’ve seen the cat or if the car leaving was them or not. It’s very important to talk to everyone around you to see if anyone noticed anything and of course ask them to keep an eye open for him. Best of luck!

Please return Socks safe & sound! He means so much to his people AND his Tweets. I hope he’s simply hiding somewhere & outsmarting “Fatty”; otherwise please return him safe and sound to his people who dearly love him!-Do what’s right!

#116 JulieNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 3:40 am

OMG that is terrible!! OK, let’s see, anything else missing? how did they get in/out? recall anyone strange in the area lately? call the police for prints? is sockington chipped? if they were just robbing you – he might’ve just run outside… get a search party together ASAP . Good luck!

#117 kerryelNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 3:40 am

If those who took him think this is a joke or funny it is absolutely NOT. Please don’t traumatize this poor kitty for a sick version of a prank/joke.

PLEASE JUST RETURN HIM TO HIS HOUSE UNHARMED and let his owners stop worrying. Animals are like children to some people (like myself) and this is just not funny.

Begging you to return him unharmed. My thoughts are with the owners and with the kitty!

I know this is prob. a long shot, but I’m praying to the God of all things that something like this has occurred and ur beautiful and clever cat comes home safe. #134 VeronikaNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 3:54 am

This is so horrible and so sad! I cannot imagine how you must be feeling.

Hopefully this is just a false alarm, you would think that to steal a cat from a house would make a bit more noise and take some more time. Or that it is some sick joke by some very sick people who will soon come to their senses.

Hang in there!

This breaks my heart in two — the tears are streaming. Sockington is such a ray of sunshine in so many lives, how could anyone have taken him. For me an older lady alone, this is devastating.

If he is hiding, when you find him, give him kibbles, hugs, more kibbles, belly scratches, more kibbles THEN tell him to never never do that again

I am praying he will show up soon and as healthy and cantankerous as ever —

Sending Pennycat and Jason loves and prayers for Sockington

Have you checked your ductwork? We were babysitting a friend’s cat once and she managed to pry open the corner of one of our air return vents and got into our duct work. It took us one full day to realize what happened. Then when we realized where she was, we left food and water near the opening. She eventually came out, we grabbed her and blocked all the vents after that.

I hope you find him soon.

#231 Dianne MillerNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 5:04 am

We had a cat disappear for a few days and could hear his meows. We searched the whole house and even went up on the roof to look. Then by sheer luck while on the roof, he meowed and we turned toward the sound. He was at a window at the church next door (all windows were up high and not visible from below). He must have gone in on Sunday during church and fell asleep and found he couldn’t get back out. He was sure hungry when we got him back home. I even heard of someone buying a couch at a yard sale and a kitty was found in it when they got it home. Cats can accidentally get themselves into something they can’t get out of. I hope you find your kitty soon.

Believe me Jason and Penny, nobody worth a salt truly felt that this was a publicity stunt. Most of us follow Sockington and enjoy his antics since we are also pet owners and lovers. We felt your pain … and now we can share in the joy and relief of his well being.

Go enjoy some time together, all 3 of you, and we’ll look forward to hearing from you soon.

Wow, like a rollercoaster this morning. I woke up very early and saw that Socks was missing… my heart just sank. If that’s how I felt, I can’t imagine how YOU felt. I was thinking about Socks all morning, checking Twitter more than I usually do. I’m just really glad to hear that he’s back and hopefully okay. Please consider taking him to a vet though. Cats hide illnesses and pain very well, and it would be good to be sure that he was just spooked and nothing worse.

Congretulations!!!! Socks missing is the worst you can happen!

#264 CouchGuyNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 5:27 am

I know the terrified, sick feeling in your gut when a beloved pet companion is missing. A number of years ago, a woman newly hired to help my wife with some household cleanup forgot strict instructions and left both back doors stand open for over an hour after mopping the kitchen floor. By the time we discovered the open door, our eldest cat, Bsbycat, was missing. We searched the entire house first, again and again, until certain no possible hiding place remained for a rather plump cat her size. Then we headed out into the neighborhood, searching for hours in vain. We returned to the house, Barbara in tears and me raging about doors left open after we’d been so careful to brief the cleaning lady so thoroughly not to do so. And as we came back into the house — there was Babycat sitting in the middle of the living room floor, wondering why we were gone for so long. No matter how you search or how long you call, there is always one hiding place you miss. Sockington may be still in the house, punishing you for some hideous violation of his self-declared rules by hiding out until uou go quite mad with worry. I sure hope so (& I can’t wait to hear his side of it on Twitter). In any case, don’t lose heart. All of his fans are keeping a good thought for him and for you.

So relieved to hear beloved Socks is safe and well. I truly believe you when you say this was no stunt – the fact you publicised your phone number was enough to convince me of your desperation.

Cats can be funny little creatures, I once had a cat who was shut in a cupboard by accident and made no sound to let us know where she was, and only stumbled across her by accident many hours later. So I can understand you have just had an extremely stressful few hours, so go sit quietly with the little guy, give him lots of cuddles and pats, and be happy that all is good and it was thankfully a false alarm. Give Socksie a hug for me =^. .^=

#291 amandaNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 5:39 am

Anyone who has a pet they love, know they are one of the family. I know if one of my cats disappeared I’d be frantic. The feeling of panic in the plea looks completely genuine, if you love your cat as “fatty” obviously does you wouldn’t make that up. So glad he’s found and you all get over the fright soon

Yay! Socks in “his Heaven”, all’s right with the world!

My 12-wk old kitten disappeared for 3 days. Later discovered she’d perched on a neighbor’s spare tire under the car. Had been riding around under that car for 3 days. Miraculously, she didn’t jump off in traffic…just clung to that tire. The car wash did her in. When she jumped out the neighbor recognized her from my fliers, caught her and brought her home. I still can’t believe she didn’t jump off on the other side of town. My little miracle.

Look forward to Socks’ post about his adventure!

#313 BridgeteNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 6:16 am

The photo indicates to me that he looks okay, his eyes look bright and healthy. It’s likely that whatever caused the noise just really freaked him out. My cat was once so scared by a thunderstorm he was literally trembling. Since a trip to the vet may be more traumatizing than necessary at this time, I’d suggest watching for signs of lethargy, a really clear loss of appetite, or any really drastic behavioral changes (litter box issues, etc.) before going, unless he remains freaked out for a really long time. You know him, you’ll be able to tell if there’s something more going on than just him being spooked.

#316 AnnNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 6:19 am

Poor guy, I’m so glad you found him! Cats are so good at hiding, especially when they’re scared, so I’m not surprised that you missed him in the first searches.

At the risk of being totally obnoxious, maybe you could look into some home security upgrades, add another lock to the door, that sort of thing, maybe even an alarm system? I’m concerned now that somebody else might try kidnapping him, or that the same people might try again.

When he’s ready for petting again, give him some for me.

#320 AnnNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 6:23 am

#329 Sunny via my hoominNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 6:48 am

Hi Jason-
I did something similar to my hoomin about 10 days ago.
I was a homeless and starving kitteh on the streets of Peterborough, Ontario. My hoomin Michelle (who is actually from Mass!) found me and took me took her cozy home. She fed me and gave me so much love. I gained some weight ( I look much more handsome now actually)and just ate and slept during my first two weeks in my new home.
But since I spend much time living on the streets I insist my hoomin lets me outside now that I am strong and healthy. If she doesn’t let me out I bother her all day.
I know that isn’t very nice but my kitteh inside voices say “I must go out and eat delicious grass in front yard and let the nice breeze blow through my beautiful orange fur.” My hoomin reluctantly lets me out, but first she makes me wear a bright red collar with my name “Sunny” stiched in it (special ordered from PETco in the US so she told me) with a shiny red bell so I don’t sneak up on any birdies. She only lets me out for a few hours and always checks up on me several times during the afternoon and insists I come in for a mid morning snack and drink. Well a few days ago I fell asleep under a beautiful bush on a nice warm day (that is what I do outside, I sleep under bushes (?) and I forgot to come home for 12 hours. WHen I got home my Hoomin was in tears and had already made “LOST” posters. My Dad hoomin had been out on his bike for 5 hours looking for me. I really just didn’t hear them calling me. I was snoozing so deeply. Well they were SO happy to see me as I ambled up to the house at 11PM, but my Michelle hoomin was very upset with me and she and the other hoomin Pat talked for 5 days about whether they would let me out. I had a punishment of not going out for a long time. We kitties don’t mean to upset our hoomins.
ANd I am so glad your kitteh Socks showed up.
We kittehs are creatures of habit, but once in a long while we like to shake things up and keep are hoomins on their toes.

Love,
Sunny Cat

#330 JanNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 6:49 am

What a relief!! I do know the feeling. Neighbors called me at work once because my fire alarm was going off. Arrived home to find firefighters already inside – no fire, but doors standing wide open. One cat, Moxie, was making friend w/them but Indy was NOWHERE to be found. I was terrified, bordering on hysteria, and like you, finally resorted to looking in places he couldn’t possibly fit, which is where I found him: Under the dresser which had only about a 3″ clearance from the floor, and he weighed 13 pounds. The alarm scared him so badly he got himself under there. So I know the fear and the relief and joy of finding him alright, just shaken up.

Is there any way of being sure whether the noises you heard scared him or whether what you heard was him getting tangled up? Regardless, prayers of thanks going up!

#331 RachaelNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 6:51 am

Jason, I hate that people think this was a hoax. As the owner of a couple of feline disappearing artists myself I recognized the panic and the sickness in your post immediately. I’m so glad Socks is back and believe me, I understand only too well how it feels to think one of your cats has vanished… they’re really too good at it. Give him a pet for me too!

#332 roseknowsNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 6:54 am

Yay for found Socks! When something freaks out a cat that badly, they have this weird ability to vanish until they’re sure the threat’s gone away… at which point they rematerialize, realize they’ve gotten into some unfamiliar place, and get further freaked into uncharacteristic silence and stillness. It’s a good strategy for hiding from wild beasts, but not so good for getting extracted.

#333 AmandaNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 6:55 am

Wow, I’ve been through this too. We have a cat, Fiona, who is mute. She’s also far too curious. I guess she hasn’t heard the saying…

She gets trapped places all the time and then can’t tell us she’s stuck. We put a bell around her neck, sometimes it helps.

#334 VNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 6:57 am

such a relief that you found him! i was shocked to hear that he probably had been abducted and felt sick to my stomach. i kept an extra eye on my cat the whole time after hearing about socks! this totally isnt a joke, nobody in their right mind would even think of this happening to their babies. my kitten penny lane (he’s a boy!) is a coward and hides a lot. what i’d do if i cant find him is to do something that you know he cant resist. like shaking his packet of steak treats, kick around his fav ball, opening the fridge door or opening the front door (he loves to go out). he’ll recognize the sounds and will come out of hiding in no time!
oh please take him to the vet and take extra precaution on his safety now that he’s famous. a burglar alarm or cctv would do. it may cost a little too much but it is WORTH IT. for you and your cat. especially a cat as famous as yours! you wouldnt want any “if only” moments when its a tad too late. much cat luvbites from penny lane in malaysia!

Hooray for Socks being found! I’m sure that when he retells the story, he bravely fought off nighttime ninja attackers and saved everyone.

I was so worried this morning that I actually asked my cat “How can you think of food at a time like this?” Of course, I know Herr Sockington would be the exact same way.

I second the people who are worried about your security, especially if someone might get an idea from this (and the people online who were offering rewards).

Something like that happened to my cat once. She his herself in this tiny gap between our shed and fence and for the first time ever did not respond to food, lights or calling… so relieved when we finally found her! So relieved S is okay too!

You may have well had a break in.

An intruder early one morning apparently kicked our cat when she went over to say “hello”. We found her shaking behind the couch, and hissing her head off when we tried to approach her. She remained withdrawn and scared of strangers for the rest of her life.

Glad Socks is safe. When we moved into our current home, our cat Sam was freaked about the whole ordeal and managed to get herself between the wall in the basement and the foundation. Thankfully, she DID make noise so we could find her, but getting her our of the wall involved opening up the wall. Pretty scary stuff.

#359 Maura AndersonNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 8:26 am

I’m glad Sockington is okay. I’d definitely follow up on the noises you heard and the car, though. My house was broken into about 18 months ago and the burglars left a window open through which several cats made an exit. It took me a week to get the last one back inside and I was freaked the whole time. I could deal with “stuff” and the insurance co but not my felines.

HUGS – something scared the bleep out of Socks and I hope he feels better soon.

I am so happy to hear he is safe. The weird noises and him being freaked out could mean someone had tried to break in. Smart kitty to go hide and be quiet. I have had that panic…. had a kitten in a room and “lost” her. They are very good at hiding when scared. Extra tuna for Socks tonight!

#367 Hiroshi MishimaNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 9:10 am

I’m very glad to hear that Socks was found safe (if you count being scared out of his mind safe) and sound. I was really worried someone had stolen him because of his popularity, ince I know people tend to do stupid things like that. But I’m very much overjoyed to learn he was still within the house. It’s sad to know he seems traumatized by something, but I know he’ll get over it soon and return to his noisy, lazy self.

I bet Penny is so jealous of all the attention he got, but you know I’d be right here voicing my concerns if something happened to her too. Cheer up Penny, get well soon Socks!

A little late to the game – but I once had a cat disappear in my room for two days after failing a jump from the back of my chair to a tall shelf (she did this while alone – normally she’d jump from the chair while i was in it, giving it weight, when she jumped while I was gone, the chair moved, she missed, fell straight down on her ass and injured her rear leg) it was pretty scary, eventually found her under the bed. She did have a habit of staying out for a day or two at a time, so I wasn’t too worried at first, then I heard pathetic mewling from under my bed finally, found her curled up inside a synth case.

So, anyway, I feel your pain. Glad you found the little guy – he probably made some crazy cat leap and scared the shat outta himself.

I react the same way when I can’t finish a head count before bed. My feline children never go outside but it’s not to say they haven’t tried. Last week, one tore a hole in the screen to get outside at the fireflies and then freaked out and tried to get back in. She has been crying ever since. Used to be the dogs would let me know something was amiss. Now they just snore like the hubby slug. No wonder I have insomnia.

#381 TammyNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 11:40 am

Our baby got trapped in the basement one time and we couldn’t find her for hours. It took letting the house be completely silent for an hour before she ventured out of hiding. Of course we thought she got outside and she’s never been outside before. So I can totally relate to the freak out and the thoughts going to the worst possible scenario.

I’m glad Socks is safe and sound at home. Tuna for everyone!

Hi – maybe this has been mentioned (not going to read back thru 400 comments) but you might want to take Socks to the vet for a checkup. Maybe something scared him, but what you describe could also be the aftereffects of a small stroke. Best to get it checked out, don’t you think?

#402 Cheryl GordonNo Gravatar on 07.11.09 at 4:34 pm

Hello! I am so glad Stockington is not missing, but am concerned about why he was wrapped up in the sheet. Do you think he was playing and it just wound tightly around him? I believe thatjJust mentally let him know you are watching him carefully to make sure he does not have any further problems will give him some feelings of safety and security. He must have thought he was going to die poor thing.

He may feel shy of any close hugging because of that incident for awhile. Stroking him will work wonders in his recovery. I am hoping he is not sick, just scared from the ordeal.

Lots of love, Stockington, Just know that everything is going to be fine now.

OK – Socks is famous – now it is time for the “rich and” part so he can afford to buy a security system. He has almost a million fans, and most of them are cats and their people. That’s a ready-made audience for commercials. Like cat food. Does Socks have a favorite? Fatty has shown he can consistently channel entertaining dialogue from Socks. SO, picture Socks – all by himself, talking to himself about something in his world, and ending with realizing its dinnertime. Produce a couple of spots and shop’em around wydoncha?

Meantime, beef up the locks, and give that cat our love!

I can’t imagine what you’ve been through.

Something like this happened with my baby, who is now laying on my legs, using them for her personal bed.

When it was the 4th of July, every neighbor on the block was popping fireworks. This scared her out of her mind. We couldn’t find her. Didn’t know where she went. Looked everywhere.

Hours later, we found her. She was under a chair, but she had literally climbed up into the mechanism of the chair (it was a recliner). She was scared to death. For hours after, she walked hunched to the ground and nary made a peep.

She’s perfect now. As curious and crazy as ever. Socks will get better. Once he realizes he’s safe once again and that everyone loves him. :)

#414 VeronikaNo Gravatar on 07.12.09 at 12:52 am

For those of you who think this is a prank: Don’t you think “Fatty” would have given it more than a few hours to announce his return if it was to get full publicity?

Clearly you have not had pets yourself.
Jason, you did the right thing, Socks is a famous cat and if he really had been taken the more people on the lookout the better.

cat collars with bells attached will avoid this happening in the future. slightest movement of the head can trigger the sound of the bell. u can hear your cats’ moveabouts easily around the house. cats are very silent in their movements. i strongly advise u to get the cat collar first, they might need getting used to but eventually they’ll forget its even there. its simple precautions like this that saves you a lot of trouble and worry.

Thank goodness Socks is all right. I know if I can’t find one of my cats in the house, my heart sinks. All sorts of terrible possibilities run through my mind and I can’t relax until they are found. But all’s well that ends well. Maybe some tuna would help Socks calm down : )
